MG Car Club

If you are interested in MG Cars or other makes of Classic and Vintage cars, you are very welcome to come along and join us at 'The Westward Inn'.  'The Westward Inn' which has a large car park is run by Pam and Kerry McMillian.

The Westward Inn, a St Austell Brewery Inn is located just off the A38 at Le Mill.  When approaching from Plymouth, exit the A38 at the slip road for Lee Mill.  The Westward Inn is about 400 yards along the road on the right hand side with the car park just past the Inn.

When approaching from Exeter exit the A38 at the slip road for Lee Mill, turn right at first T junction to pas under A38 dual carriageway.  Turn left at next T junction passing Jet petrol station on left.  Car park entrance for Westward Inn next left.

All monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month.  Meet in the restaurant / bar from 7.15pm onwards where a wide range of competitively priced meals to suite all tastes are available.  At 8.45pm we adjourn to the Function Room for the feature fro the evening (guest speaker, film show etc).

IMPORTANT!!  If you plan to have a meal please phone the Inn on 01752 892626 to book a table stating that it is for the MG Car Club Meeting.

Our events have included talks, slide/film shows on various subjects (not necessarily on motoring). We have also organised runs for classic cars locally or within the two counties.

Our club is open to members of the MG Car Club and potential interested members, whether owning an MG or not.

20 April 2008 St George's Day - National Drive It Day for Classic Cars.  The day when we are all being encouraged by the FBHVC to et our classics out on the road.  As we go to press the event is being planned for each Meeting / Natter to meet up in the morning at a convenient rendezvous to their Meeting / Natter and then have a scenic drive to link up at a venue for a join D & C Centre lunch.  Please contact Ted Lawrence on 01752 - 793105 for further details if you plan to take part in this event.

27 April 2008 - Sunday Atlantic Coast Express Run.  The event will start from Okehampton Station and is open to all makes of Classic and Vintage Cars. The run follows the route travelled by the A.C.E. through Rayleigh country to finish at Fishponds Hotel near Honiton for tea.  For Entry Form and further details contact Colin Lennox-Jones on 01752 793105 to book your entry.
4 May 2008 - Sunday Popular Flying Association 'Fly In' at Plymouth Airport.  We have again been invited to join the P.F.A. Devon Strut for their 'Fly In' at Plymouth Airport.  Aircraft and Cars will be on display on the Tavistock Road side of the Airport.  Catering will be available from a mobile Cafeteria (or bring a picnic) as well as toilet facilities brought in for the event.  Entry has to be pre-booked.  Contact Ted Lawrence on 01752 893105 to book your entry.
7 May 2008 - Wednesday Members Invitation to a Vintage Film Show at The Westward Inn.  A mix of Historical Motoring, Aviation and General Interest.
14 May 2008- Wednesday - DAYTIME Visit to Plymouth Naval Base Museum and Dockyard.  This can only be undertaken by an escorted coach party for security reasons (no individual cars) and we will be joining a party from British Aerospace.  The Tour takes approximately 3 hours and the cost which includes coach, museum, entrance and a buffet lunch is £13.50.  The coach will pick up at The George, Park and Ride, Tavistock Road, Plymouth (11.30am) and Home Park, Park & Ride (11.45am), Outland Road, Plymouth.  Early booking is advised and should be sent to Ted Lawrence with names and addresses of who will be going together will a cheque to cover the cost made payable to "British Aerospace Sports & Social Club".  Closing date for bookings 30 April.
6 May 2008 - Monday Driving Tests in the South Hams at Lynham Airfiled (Treby Farm).  Map ref 202/585534.  On a smooth non damaging tarmac surface.  Handicap event (so novices have an equal chance of winning)  An opportunity to improve your driving skills off the public highway with experienced drivers to help and advise.  Spectators welcome.  Toilet facilities will be available.  Contact Colin Lennox-Jones on 01752 892434 for further details and to book your entry.
