At Ivybridge Town Council, we are committed to standing by our residents during these challenging times. The rising cost of living affects us all, and we want you to know that we are here to help. Our mission is to ensure that every member of our community feels supported, heard, and empowered to thrive.

Food Security

Ivybridge is committed to ensuring no one in our town goes hungry. You can access nutritious, fresh food and produce at the following locations:

  • Ivybridge Foodbank

The Foodbank is located in the Methodist church on Fore Street and is open on Wednesdays from 1pm until 3pm. You will need a voucher which can then be exchanged for a minimum of 3 days of food – for more information on this scheme, please visit foodbank’s website.

  • IvyFridge

Located in St John’s Church Hall, IvyFridge work to share food and reduce waste. They have a Facebook page which posts regular updates on food availability and offer fantastic support to the Ivybridge community.

Energy, Bills, Benefits and Debt

Citizens Advice South Hams provide specialist support and their advice lines are completely free to call. There is a representative available to speak to at the Watermark every Monday from 9:30am until 12:30pm.

For more information on housing, help with rental costs, money and debt advice, food, energy and bills, please visit South Hams District Council’s online Support Directory.

Warm, Safe Spaces

We work hard to reduce social isolation in our Town and organise and support various initiatives to achieve this. There are a number of places for you to go should you need a warm, safe space during the day:

  • The Watermark

The library within the Watermark, which is run by Libraries Unlimited, is open from 9am every day except Sundays and is a friendly, warm environment with comfortable seating. Please note, the library closes early at 1pm on a Wednesday and Saturday. The Watermark is also home to a fantastic café which offers affordable hot drinks and food, a cinema and various clubs and classes. You can find the full range of services available at the Watermark by visiting their website.

  • The Bridge Café

The Bridge is a community café run by the Ivybridge Salvation Army. They provide hot drinks and homemade cakes in their warm space. Visit the Salvation Army’s website for full details including opening hours, address and contact details.

  • St John’s Church Hall

On Tuesdays from 9am until 1:30pm the church hall is available as a warm space an offers free wifi, device charging, accessible toilets and baby changing facilities.

For more information or further details on all of the warm spaces available in the South Hams, please visit South Hams District Council’s Warm Spaces Directory.

Listening to Your Needs

Your voice matters. We hold regular town council meetings and create surveys to hear your concerns and suggestions. Together, we can prioritise the solutions that will make the greatest impact.

Together, We’ll Build a Resilient Community

No one should face financial hardship alone. By working together, we can overcome challenges and ensure that every resident of Ivybridge feels supported, valued, and secure.
