The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 4 June 2022

Despite a damp and windy start, the day did eventually brighten up and everyone had a great time, some sporting some very patriotic outfits!

The crowds enjoyed listening to the fantastic 50’s music from Steve Roffey - 50's Rock 'n' Roll Singer and the smooth jazz vibes from the Helen White Quartet, and laughing along to Punch and Judy’s antics, little ones building sandcastles and playing the giant games, and some not so little! Thanks to Miss Ivy Events for working with the Council to make this a successful event.

Our wonderful local shops were busy too, and got into the spirit, with themed window displays and some taking part in the trail to spot the Queen’s corgis. Thanks to the very talented Karen Mills Let The Fantasy Begin S & K Productions for her wonderful face-painting, and with the generosity of the public she managed to raise £120.70 in donations towards the Mayor’s charity, Ivybridge Young Carers! We were also delighted to have the presence of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue with their fire engine, and Devon and Cornwall Police patrolling the town to make sure everyone had a safe and happy time. Sadly, the dog show was cancelled at short notice, however we managed to capture some cute pooch photos as a memento of the day.

Thanks go to our main sponsors Glanvilles Mill and Home Instead Ivybridge, and also to Christophers South Hams, Ivor Jones & Co Ltd, Manning and Company and Lawsons Shop for also supporting this event. Thanks also to Tesco Lee Mill for donating a fantastic box full of goodies, and to Lawsons Shop, The Ivybridge Bookshop and Richard Peachey for use of electric, and to Devon County Council for helping with the road closure and South Hams and FCC for helping to manage the waste from the event.

Finally, a very big thank you to all our volunteers for their dedication, coming out in all weathers to help support the Town Council staff manage these events, without them they would not be able to take place.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the Dress Your Business competition are Balloon Express (and Valaria from Ukraine) and Stowfords! The standard was really high and it was decided to split 1st place between these two premises, so congratulations to them both!
