Celebrate Ivybridge and Nominate a Community Hero or Group for the 2024 Awards!

Every year, Ivybridge Town Council proudly recognises the extraordinary contributions of individuals and groups that make our town and surrounding areas a better place. These annual awards are a chance to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond for the community.

The Awards

David Britton Citizen of the Year Award

This award celebrates both young people and adults who have significantly impacted Ivybridge through their selfless service. Nominees may live outside the town, provided their efforts benefit the people of Ivybridge.

Nick Cummins Community Group of the Year Award

This honour goes to a group or organisation that has enriched the town with its invaluable contributions.

Both awards are named after two exceptional individuals whose dedication inspired our community.

What Winners Receive

Each award recipient will be presented with:

  • An engraved shield
  • A framed certificate
  • A £50 gift or donation to a charity of their choice

These will be presented by the Town Mayor at the Annual Town Meeting on March 17, 2025.

How to Nominate

Do you know an inspiring person or group deserving of recognition? Nominations are now open!

Submit your nomination with the following details:

  • Nominee’s Name/Group Name
  • Address
  • Your Name and Contact Details
  • Reasons for Nomination (Provide as much detail as possible to support the decision-making process)

Past Winners - A Legacy of Community Spirit

2023 Highlights

Citizen of the Year: Mavis Sturman for her tireless volunteer work with the Brownies, Guides, Trefoil, The Bridge, St John’s Church, and her dedication to helping others.

Community Group of the Year: The Salvation Army/The Bridge for their remarkable contributions, including the Christmas Toy Appeal, Bees Baby Bank, and providing a safe, welcoming café and emergency assistance.

2022 Highlights

Citizen of the Year: Andy Edmonds for training the community in CPR and defibrillator use, empowering others, and potentially saving lives.

Community Group of the Year: Ivybridge Brewing for fostering confidence, skills, and self-esteem among volunteers while making a positive impact in the town.
